Weather: For the second time now it did not rain during our visit to Noar Hill, in fact it was a gloriously hot and sunny day following on from nearly a week without rain.

New Records:
New to HFRG: Botryobasidium pruinatum

Report: We returned for a June foray at Noar Hill after the popularity of last year's foray when the group enjoyed not only the fungi but also the orchids which were in full flower. This year however neither were so prolific but Noar Hill on a glorious June day was still a place to enjoy. The first patch of something dampish turned out to be a couple of cow pats complete with Coprobia granulata and Ascobolus stercorarius. Near the top of the hill a patch of beech trees produced several species including a large display of Polyporus squamosus and a clump over the top Pleurotus pulmonarius, a species reported to be found more commonly in summer in contrast to Pleurotus ostreatus which is found in the autumn. Sue was delighted when she and Alan found that one of her 'paint' species turned out to be Botryobasidium pruinatum, a species new to the group with only one previous record in Hampshire. Chris found the first identifiable russula of the year despite the dry conditions.
