Weather: In one word, icy. Another very cold day with temperatures just above freezing but thankfully dry.
Report: The last foray of the year was a chilly affair but those of us going to Eric and Sue's for lunch were spurred on by the thought warm food and wine. There was an outstanding clump of Flammulina velutipes (Velvet Shank) which did not end up in our lunch. Considering the frosty weather we were surprised to find on of the best examples of the stripes on the stem Mycena polygramma we had ever seen. A fallen beech tree was covered in a wide range of fungi that kept everyone busy for a while before we headed back to the carpark to see Phylloporia ribis on it's usual Spindle tree, a photo opportunity for those who had not seen it before. Those who went on to Eric and Sue's appreciated their hospitality and the warm lunch and the group is grateful to them for hosting us every year.
