Report: (Mike Harrison) Most of the day was spent in the south of the Forest, in Carpenters Down Wood, although later on, we moved on into Parrot‘s Copse. The 16 forayers found 109 species - a surprisingly large number, considering how dry the weather in the run up to the foray had been. Of particular note was Antrodia carbonica - only twice recorded previously in the UK, although it may be that the previously unidentified Antrodias Alan Lucas found at the Vyne in 2014 and elsewhere, may also turn out to have been this species, once the samples are DNA sequenced. Other highlights were the grey resupinate Basidiodendron caesiocinereum and also the small hairy ascomycete Echinosphaeria canescens, which was sharing a twig with Flagelloscypha minutissima. Two of the more interesting cap fungi found were the attractive Pholiota flammans and the purple-tinged Lactarius controversus, here associated with Salix. While not as uncommon as some of the other finds, my favourite was Leucogyrophana mollusca, a merulioid fungus new to me, which reminds me of a badly fried egg
