Weather: The mainly dry spell continued during the previous week and the day itself was sunny.

New Records:
New to HFRG: Coprinus ephemeroides

Report: When we walked onto the common we were surprised by how much the vegetation had grown since our last visit. The gorse and young birch cover was now quite extensive and had spread over the known site of the H acetabulum and P leucomelaena which were nowhere to be seen although the weather could have been contributing. Elsewhere there was the occasional larger fungus - Entoloma conferendum (Star Pinkgill) and three 'Coprinus' species helped by the moisture of pony dung. One of these Coprinopsis ephemeroides is a delicate fruitbody a couple of mm across but with a small ring that helps with identification. This was the last outing of what has been a very dry spring season but let us hope the Summer and Autumn will be more productive.
