Weather: Although April has been dry there were one or two showers threatening on the day which thankfully we managed to avoid.

New Records:
New to HFRG: Ophiognomonia setacea, Melampsora epitea var. epitea, Microthyrium ciliatum var. ciliatum, Periconia cookei

Report: Not to be discouraged by the continuing lack of April showers a small group set off into the wetter areas of the Leckford Estate ably guided once again by Glynne Evans and considering all the twists and turns and many small bridges we passed it was a good job we had someone with local knowledge. As the fisherman had not yet returned for the season we could venture into the wetter areas near the water's edge. There was however a distinct lack of any cap and stem fungi apart from a solitary Bolbitius titubans (Yellow Fieldcap) which meant most of the finds were small fungi on plants including several rusts and other microfungi which provided some microphotographic challenges. However for those that ‘like em big’ Sara found a magnificent young specimen of Laetiporus sulphureus (Sulphur Polypore) growing all along a willow trunk which was quite out of keeping with the rest of the day's finds. As the group is not in the habit of looking at microfungi a few new species to the group were to be found amongst the day's records.
