Emer Bog

Report: Looking for some damp boggy bits of wood the group gathered at the Green Lane entrance to Emer Bog. (The parking in Pound Lane nursery appears to be closed at present.) Although still damp the bog was dry enough to allow us to walk over the whole bog area without getting the tops of our shoes wet! Upon entering the bog the dampness was sufficient to find a fine collection of Psathyrella candolleana and new fruitbodies of the 'slug' or Camarops polysperma with it's glistening jet black ooze of spores. After lunch Sue searching on her own found a very productive patch in an area of the bog we had not been in before and we all retraced our steps to look at two specialist bog milk mushrooms, Lactarius apsideus with it's striking purple discoloration and milk and L lacunarum with vivid yellow to orange brown colours.
