Weather: A dry warm day following a week of little rain.
Report: We were grateful once again for the opportunity to foray on the Leckford Estate ably guided by Glynne Evans. We were joined by Dave and Gill Higginson-Tranter, regular summer visitors from Cheshire. We started where we left off last year at Water Copse near Longstock House and it was not long before Eric found Echinoderma aspera (Freckled Dapperling) and Alan the deadly poisonous Amanita phalloides (Death Cap) which was the first of several sitings during the day. We lunched by the lakeside where the grass was peppered with the wrinkled white capped Conocybe apala (Milky Conecap). After lunch the Estate golf course provided us with the opportunity to see the end of a flush of boletes with one fine specimen of Boletus satanas (Devil's Bolete). There was also a curious set of teeth like marks on barkless area of a hazel branch which caused much speculation and have yet to be fully explained.
