New to HFRG and VC11: Agrocybe paludosa

Report: (Eric Janke) Blashford lakes is quite a mixed site, with stands of damp woodland between the gravel pits themselves. The damp spring encouraged the fruiting of a range of agarics with many of the familiar genera making an appearance - even a Russula to get Eric out of hibernation. Several of the species were typically vernal, which aided identification, particulary Cortinarius vernus and Agrocybe paludosa/praecox and the ubiquitous Calocybe gambosa (St Georges mushroom). There were fewer cup-fung with single representatives of Sarcoscypha austriaca (Scarlet Elfcup) and Aleuria aurantica (Orange Peel) and all the Eyelash collections were Scutellinia scutellata but examination of the rotten bark did reveal clusters of the urchin like Lasiosphaeria canescens. Again, there were ample ”paint-jobs“ to keep Paul on his knees and he collected three of his target species: Stypella dubia (twice), Tomentella crinalis and Botryobasidium candicans. To finish, we even had half a large Hankea utriformis (Mosaic puffball) - it may be a few months before we exceed this species count.
